Toy Factory

"Toy Factory" is a Design Technologies unit plan intended for Year 2 students. It follows on from the physical sciences forces strand whereby students investigated and explored push, pull and gravity. "Toy Factory" aims to consolidate knowledge and understanding of push / pull movements while implementing higher order thinking of systems to select a combination of recycled materials for the design purpose of creating a toy (ACARA, 2016). Additionaly, the unit lends itself to adjustment and implementation of differentiation strategies. Teachers may scaffold worksheets, utilse peer mentoring and take advantage of various school environments and contexts to support student learning needs.
